Worldwide tech enthusiasts and Mi lovers were waiting for the arrival of Xiaomi’s new smartphone Redmi Note 5. But now, we have a surprise for you. The Redmi Note 5 is not coming anytime soon, instead, they are going to launch the Redmi 5 Plus smartphone. To recall, the company launched the Redmi 5 series on December 7th.
A forum moderator of MIUI forum has revealed that the Redmi 5 Plus will replace the Note 5. Since the announcement is coming from the official forum moderator, it would be true. According to user mitch002, Xiaomi is dropping the Note moniker “as of this moment.” Although this is not an official confirmation by the manufacturer, it is as close as it gets.
The Redmi 5 Plus is currently only available in China and it costs CNY999 or CNY1,299 ($150 or $195). It comes with Snapdragon 625 chipset with 3/4 GB RAM and 32/64 GB storage. Following the market trend, the device comes with a screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. It has a 5-megapixel front camera and a 12-megapixel main sensor on the rear side. Overall, it is a budget segment device, focused on Indian markets. It should arrive in more markets including India soon.
