One of the most considerably innovative smartphones in last year Xiaomi Mi Mix was launched with a least sized bezel compared to the flagships. The smartphone was said to be an experiment, by Xiaomi. But many brands including LG and Samsung eventually followed the Chinese giant’s design in implementing a bezel-less experience to their smartphones.
From the very beginning of 2017, we have started hearing rumors about the successor model for Mi Mix. Later then, we haven’t heard about the device even from the company so far. Now, the world famous French designer Philippe Starck published a render image of the device on Weibo, stating – the upcoming Mi MIX 2. If we recall, back in February the Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed that the Mi MIX 2 would be designed by Starck, who is an amazing architect.
According to the reports, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 will be released by the second half of 2017. Xiaomi also plans to unveil it’s next generation device of Redmi Pro, named Redmi Pro 2 by July. So, the bezel-less futuristic flagship Mi MIX 2 will be released only after the arrival of Redmi Pro 2. Surprisingly, the successor of Redmi pro is also rumored to have a bezel-less display to look so futuristic. The device will probably have a narrower bezel compared to first generation.Concerning the specs, the Mi MIX 2 will have a 6.4 inch bezel-less display with 4GB/6GB RAM powered by Snapdragon 835. The device is expected to carry a price tag of 3499 CNY, roughly translated to about 513 USD.
Also, the Chinese LCD, display panel manufacturer Tianma has showcased a device looks similar to Mi MIX in Taipei Computer Show, expected to be announced for commercial production soon. It is quite interesting that many manufacturers are moving to remove the bezel and make the interface cover the room, inorder to make smartphone usage more compact as well as cozy.
