Xiaomi-backed gaming smartphone brand BlackShark in China launched their first gaming smartphone in the country today. The BlackShark gaming smartphone was rumoured to come with appealing hardware features on the board, with everything that a gaming smartphone should be carrying. Now, the smartphone industry has a rival for the Razer’s gaming smartphone, and let us see if the Xiaomi’s machine could beat the gaming system giant.

BlackShark: Top 10 Features
1. Design
Xiaomi’s gaming smartphone has some exquisite beauty in its design aspects. The rear panel of the device is designed in a rugged/rough way so that it provides better grip while holding. The manufacturer adopts the design pattern inspired from “X”, which seems much comfortable to handle.
Coming to the front panel, the smartphone has fingerprint scanner mounted under the 18:9 display, having a resolution of FHD+. The display panel does not have the refresh rate of 120Hz, unfortunately, unlike Razer phone. The top chin is designed thicker to make room for the game controller pad. Also, fluorescent green logo on the smartphone is so stunning to look at, apparently.
2. Snapdragon 845, Adreno 630
As we expected, BlackShark comes with the most powerful smartphone chipset available today, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 under its hood. The Chipset carries 8 x Kryo 385 CPU Cores, clocked up to 2.8GHz. It integrates the Hexagon 685 DSP powered with Artifical Intelligence for the inbuilt image processing and the better rendering.
The Graphics Processing unit comes along with the SD845 is the Adreno 630, as we all know. Qualcomm ensures the performance 30% faster in graphics rendering/image processing and the support for various graphics APIs including Vulkan, DirectX 12, Open GL ES 3.2, etc. Hopefully, this combo can turn the smartphone into a dedicated handheld gaming machine.
3. RAM, Storage
When the Xiaomi initially teased the device, everyone expected at least 6GB RAM and yeah, it is true. The BlackShark has 6GB RAM for the lower variant while the top one has 8GB of RAM. The internal storage space is specifically of UFS 2.1, which is way faster than the conventional storage entities.
4. True Liquid Cooling
Handlin the overheating of the smartphones while gaming or heavy processing is a big deal, and Xiaomi has got it covered in its BlackShark gaming smartphone. The company introduced its True Liquid Cooling system. The multi-stage processed water cooling system will cool the device temperature 8-degrees down when a certain threshold limit is crossed.
Many brands including Microsoft and Samsung came forth with the similar cooling system for their smartphones lately. But they were never more like the advanced cooling system in the Xiaomi’s device.
5. Gaming Controller
The brand sells an extra gaming controller along with the devices, which resembles the Nintendo Switch controller. It is made to fit the smartphone top/bottom end, which can be paired with the smartphone via Bluetooth. The company is making only a limited amount of the controllers and will be charging US$28 each. The physical controller also works with any other smartphones.
6. Shark Key
The dedicated hardware key on the side panel named “Shark Key” lets you redirect all the available hardware resources into the concentrated gaming environment, thus providing the maximum gaming performance. The dedicated key feature is one of the first in the market, which can make the gaming experience much better than any other devices.
7. Stereo Speaker (Biso Sound)
There is a smart speaker system that comes with the device. Even though the device has only one speaker, the earpiece acts as a secondary one to create a stereo sound emulation. The in-built intelligent engine helps in choosing the appropriate output rate and second speaker usage.
8. Camera
Despite the fact that BlackShark is just a gaming-centric smartphone, the camera department does not well seem to be expelled while tuning. The rear camera setup has a dual lens, pairing 12MP+20MP sensors combo. On the front too, the same 20MP sensor is placed for the video calls gameplay records, game live streaming, etc. For image processing, it uses an independent AI-powered MEMC Chipsets.
9. Bigger Battery
One of most demanding features as a gaming smartphone would be the long-lasting battery. BlackShark gaming smartphone has 4,000mAh battery placed under the panel. The battery pack is juiced using 18W QuickCharge 3.0 adapter, which can fill up the cell within an hour.
10. Price
The price listing announcement was one of the most exciting parts of the launch event. The company has surprised the whole industry with its affordable price tag, compared with the other smartphone in the same category having the same hardware features (or even lesser). The base variant of 6GB+64GB prices only CNY 2999 (~$480) and the 8GB+128GB will be made available at CNY 3499 (~$550).
