Chinese manufacturer owned by BBK Electronics, OPPO, has been teasing a new smartphone on the company’s R-lineup, OPPO R17 from past weeks. The smartphone was teased to come with a unique waterdrop notch on the top of the display, that does not take up a lot of space from the top chin. Finally, OPPO R17 arrived in China with all the expected features and design aspect.
The smartphone has a teardrop notch at the top. The company calls it “Waterdrop Notch” which has smoothy flowing corners. As it is located at the middle, the smartphone shares some similarity with the Essential PH-1 regarding the notch design, but not same. The smartphone arrives in the Chinese market with a 6.4-inch display, having the resolution of Full HD+.
Talking of the rest of the hardware specifications, the OPPO R17 is the first smartphone to come with the latest chipset from Qualcomm, Snapdragon 670 clocked at 2.0GHz. The smartphone couples 8GB of RAM and 128GB Internal expandable storage as well. On the rear, the device houses a combo o 12MP+5MP camera sensors with no optical zoom. The selfie snapper is of 25 Megapixels, uses Sony’s IMX576 sensor. There are also some software tweaks added to improve the camera experience and picture quality, backed with Artifical Intelligence. The receiver speaker is attached to the top edge, besides the notch.
Besides, the smartphone comes with an in-screen fingerprint scanner, which only the Vivo launched so far in the International market. OPPO R17 also packs the iconic VOOC fast charging methodology to boost up the 3500mAh battery pack. The company has not revealed the official sale date or international availability of the device. We expect it to hit several markets including India soon. The price tag is also not revealed yet so far.
