Chinese flagship manufacturer OnePlus just released the latest build for their own version of Android Operating System for their OnePlus 3 or 3T users. The new version OxygenOS 5.0.1 has just released for OnePlus 3/3t users and now open for everyone to install the OS quickly. The update is not brought through OTA (Over The Air) instead, the company has made the official ROM build available publicly on their website.
It is not surprising that the company wants users to flash the Operating System manually, as they do the same with almost every latest release. From the update release notes, the OxygenOS 5.0.1 for OnePlus 3T does not include the new Operating System Android Oreo but with many new features and necessary upgrades. The security patch of the release is upgraded to December 2017 (but no January?).
From the changelog, the update brings the VoLTE (Voice over LTE) feature for Airtel carrier users, which currently Reliance Jio holds the only stand to distribute the VoLTE among India. With the new update, users will be able to receive or make calls by staying on the 4G Network itself, and the internet connectivity will not be interrupted while in the call. The Airtel’s VoLTE is under establishment process and will take some time to reach every region. There are also many other updates and fixes come along with the flashable update. Here is the complete changelog.
- Supported Airtel VoLTE in India (VoLTE service location depends on Airtel)
- Added support for aptX HD
- Added Wi-Fi hotspot device manager
- Added “Soft” screen calibration
- Updated Android security patch to December
- General bug fixes and stability improvements
The update totally weighs 1.47GB.
Apart from the new update, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users have something else to be proud of – Face Unlock. The Face Unlock feature which first came to the OnePlus 5T in the company’s lineup is impressively good one with high accuracy rate. The same feature is just confirmed to roll out to every OnePlus 3/3T users shortly, said the company’s representatives in CES 2018. You can expect the element in succeeding Beta ROM update.
