Cloud based Android smartphone from a startup, the Nextbit Robin was launched with many features including nearly 100GB of Free cloud storage for unlimited time period. Back in January 2017, the company has been bought by Razer but the software updates for Nextbit Robin were assured by the parent organisation for 1 year atleast.
The device has received Android Nougat update officially few months ago, and now the smartphone has been started receiving Android Nougat 7.1.1 update which is a bit surprising compared to other brands. Most of the brands either stopped at pushing out Nougat 7.0, or jumped directly to 7.1.1 after a long time. Even though the Nextbit offered the update of 1 year, users never thought that it would be getting faster updates frequently to the latest Android versions.
However, the company seems to be more aggressive in releasing stable builds officially for users via OTA update. The Razer also published the image file of the update of the Nextbit OS based on Android 7.1.1 which comes with the tagline – Cloud First, on their website for those who didn’t get an OTA prompt so far, weighs 540MB. Do check in you settings panel for the update if you own a Nextbit Robin smartphone.
