Huawei’s sub-brand Honor today launched their new smartphone in India. In a press event in Delhi, Honor India announced the launch of their new flagship level smartphone Honor Play. The device launched in India as two different variants, both of them are focusing on the mobile gaming performance. Both of the smartphones come with GPU Turbo technology and it aims the gaming users in India. Honor Play has been devised with a key technological breakthrough with GPU Turbo, improving graphics processing efficiency by 60% and reducing SoC (System on Chip) energy consumption by 30%, setting new records in smartphone performance and energy consumption balance.
The all-new Honor Play smartphone comes with a 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a display notch on the head. The device runs on a flagship level chipset Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC (four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz). The device comes in two variants – 4GB RAM variant and the 6GB version. The dual-SIM supported Honor Play runs on the Huawei’s custom UI EMUI 8.2, based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
The device has a dual rear camera setup with one 16-megapixel sensor sporting a f/2.2 aperture, and the secondary 2-megapixel sensor sporting a f/2.4 aperture. The device supports Artificial Intelligence-based scene identification system in the camera app. It features a single-tone LED flash for the rear camera. On the front, the smartphone has a single camera setup with a 16-megapixel sensor bearing f/2.0 aperture. However, there are no storage variants for the device, as both of the RAM variants come with 64GB of internal storage. You can further expand the storage space for up to 256GB using a microSD card. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (dual-band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth v4.2, USB Type-C (v2.0), GPS/ A-GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Honor Play smartphone is priced at Rs. 19,999 for the 4GB/64GB variant and Rs. 23,999 for the 6GB version. The smartphone features a 3,750mAh battery. The device weighs 176 grams and measures in at 157.91×74.27×7.48mm. It will be available exclusively via Amazon India starting today.
