Google Tez which recently got rebranded as Google Pay, has been extending to many areas including bill payments and shopping. Now, Google India has announced that the Google Pay will be available to pay your Uber rides from now onwards. The company said that Uber riders from India will be enabled with the Google Pay (Tez) payment option, for 10 rides up to Rs. 1,000. The brand limits the payment amount as an introductory offer and is expected to expand soon.
Integration of the Google Pay option to the Uber app might be the best thing that Google and Uber had done latterly. As most of the smartphone users from India do possess an account with the UPI-powred Google Tez or Pay, it could become much easier to ride with Uber in coming days. You do not require your credit or debit card to pay your cab bills if you have a Google Pay account. It is possible to simply checkout using your mobile number and an OTP.
To start using the feature, you need to add the Google Pay account to your Uber app. For this, go to Payment methods and add Google Pay by entering your UPI ID. Currently, there are many apps and services that set the Google Pay as one of their payment modes including BookMyShow, RedBus, etc.
