India has been taking over news headlines since some months because of their latest movements to promote digital services and payment systems. Now again, another news is here. The popular instant messaging service WhatsApp is planning to test digital payment feature in India. They are aiming to earn a profit by implementing digital payment system for the 200 million WhatsApp users in India.
Just because of the reason that India has the most number of WhatsApp users, they will release it in India very soon. But still, they are planning to get it done by adopting the Unified Payment Service (UPI) of the Indian Government. So, WhatsApp is hoping to get the support from the Government because they are helping Indian Government for their Initiative known as ‘Digital India.’
“India is an important country for WhatsApp, and we’re understanding how we can contribute more to the vision of Digital India. We’re exploring how we might work with companies that share this vision and continuing to listen closely to feedback from our users,” WhatsApp told TechCrunch in a statement.
