Today in a press event, Xiaomi announced their second manufacturing unit in India. They have announced the news along with the launch of their latest smartphone model Xiaomi Redmi 4A.
They unveiled the new manufacturing unit in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh in association with the Foxconn Inc. Now they have two manufactuting facilities in India. With the launch of the new unit, they are supporting India government’s Make in India project.
With the new manufacturing plant, more than 95 percent of Xiaomi’s smartphones sold in India are now manufactured in India. Xiaomi will now have a combined production capacity of one phone per second during operational hours.
