Xiaomi continues to release more smartphones to the midrange market in India, targeting to rival against Honor’s recent releases. The Chinese manufacturer has officially announced a new device to launch in India on June 7th. The company is reportedly prepping up to release the Redmi S2 midrange smartphone but rebranded as the Redmi Y2.
The device will arrive in the selfie-focused Y-lineup smartphones. Last year, the company announced the Redmi Y1 with extensive selfie camera at Rs. 9000. The company has already teased a smartphone with 16MP AI Selfie camera, which is apparently the Redmi Y2.
Xiaomi Redmi S2, aka Redmi Y2 in India, to be featured with a 5.99-inch HD+ Display, having an aspect ratio of 18:9, similar to Redmi Note 5 Pro. The device is powered with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 Chipset clocked at 2.0GHz. The smartphone comes in two variants, one with 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage. Also, a higher variant comes with 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage. Currently, the Redmi S2 (Y2) is available in Grey, gold and rose gold options.
Xiaomi Redmi Y2 will be running Android 8.1 Oreo onboard, topped with MIUI 9.5. Unfortunately, the smarthone is not coming with some humongous battery pack, unlike Redmi Note series devices. It is provided with 3080mAh battery, backed by 10W Charging capacity. According to the reports, the base variant of the smartphone might cost Rs. 9,999 and the higher option at Rs. 11,999. Xiaomi is also likely to announce the smartphones that will officially get the MIUI 10 update on June 7th.
