Xiaomi has launched their new flagship smartphone Mi Mix 2 with Bezel-Less Design and Facial Recognition at an event held today in Beijing, China. The smartphone that was being previously allegedly a lot with some suggested specs and features makes a good successor to the last year’s Xiaomi Mi Mix.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 boasts a huge 5.99-inch bezel-less FHD (1080×2160 pixels) display of 403ppi with 18:9 aspect ratio, with 12-percent smaller chin (bottom bezel) than its predecessor. It comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.45GHz with 6GB of RAM and in three in-built storage variants, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
Coming to its optics, the device sports a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 sensor with 1.25-micron pixels, 5-piece lens, a f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis optical image stabilisation, along with the facial recognition capability. The facial recognition feature also extended to its front facing camera with a 5-megapixel sensor. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth v5.0, and USB Type-C.
The device also comes in a Special Edition variant, featuring features a full ceramic body, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage is priced at CNY 4,699 (~Rs. 46,000). While the standard variant comes only in Black Colour, the Special Edition will be available in both Black and White hues. Both the variants sports a 3400mAh battery along with the sensors including, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, digital compass, gyroscope, an ultrasonic proximity sensor.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 regular variant has dimensions 151.8×75.5×7.7mm and weighs 185 grams. On the other hand, the Special Edition measures 150.5×74.6×7.7mm and weighs 187 grams.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has been priced at CNY 3,299 for its 6GB RAM/64GB ROM variant, CNY 3,599 for the 6GB RAM/128GB ROM variant, and CNY 3,999 for the 6GB RAM/256GB ROM variant. The device will be available in flash sale in China is on September 15 for the Standard Variants, with registrations starting today. While its Special Edition will only be sold by November.
Later today, Manu Kumar Jain, MD of Xiaomi India, has tweeted confirming the Mi Mix 2 will be launching in India soon. The device is coming to India due to its uneven fan base whose expecting the device to be available in the country. Yet, it is still unknown about its schedule of the launch event.
